Heating up a little chowder or hot chocolate is easy with this tidy blue hot pot from Proctor-Silex. Built to handle up to 1 quart at a time, the pot features a variable temperature dial to let you gently warm soup or quickly boil water for tea. A comfortable, soft-grip handle makes accurate pouring easy, while the lid removes completely for measuring, cooking, and cleaning. Stable on its base, the unit measures 10-1/2 by 8 by 6 inches and has handy quantity markings on the inside. It boils 4 cups of water in nine minutes and heats up soup in as few as two. I've used this hot pot throughout college, mostly for ramen (with eggs, various vegetables, and meat) and occasionally as a water heater.
Somewhere along the way, someone used an abrasive sponge to scrub the bottom, so the nonstick heating part isn't very non-stick anymore, but it still works well! I generally leave the top off, so the gap between the lid and the handle that some people have mentioned isn't an issue for me. I only wish it had a detachable cord or a removable base, to make cleaning easier.
Otherwise, it's a nice fast and reliable pot, great for when I'm too lazy to go to the kitchen to whip something up

This product is great at some things but poor at others (which I think could have easily been added to the design of this product for nearly no cost).
PRO: I like the color (standard white or black is boring) and it boils water very quickly. I also like that it keeps the water at boiling until you change it. I also dig that its small and great for the office. Price is good too.
CON: No ON/OFF switch! Who would design something with no ON/OFF switch? No matter the PRO's I listed above, if I'd had known this I would not have purchased it. Very silly issue that could have been easily added be the designers. Also, I dont dig that the there is no option for auto-switch-off after the water reaches a certain temp, instead you have to do it manually. Lastely, I kinda wished that the bottom the the kettle was not permanently mounted to the actual kettle, meaning, this product is all one solid unit.
Conclusion: OK for the office and the price. Otherwise get one that is a little more sophisticated (ie. on/off button). Good luck.

This little Hot Pot definitely does what it says on the tin, and little else. It boils water in a snap, making me cup of French Press coffee very quickly in the morning. As for safety features, there really are none. It's definitely a single use appliance, but it's easy to use and gets the job done. I've had mine for a few years and I'm upgrading so I can get a cordless model. After having this in my home for a while, I can't imagine NOT having an electric kettle at my fingertips. Definitely MUCH faster than boiling water on the stove, and it allows me to keep all of my burners free if I'm cooking at the same time. Four stars for lack of safety features, although I've never had a problem with safety.

We travel with our children a lot, and some hotels don't have a kitchen available at all times, or maybe they're too expensive when all your kids want is macaroni and cheese or a hot dog or noodles and butter.
This Hot Pot does the job perfectly, is easy to clean, is lightweight, and doesn't seem like it will shatter or anything if it gets knocked over. In any case, it was just what we wanted.
