Not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. Works great for me. March 7, 2010 Gregory A. Moore So, I purchased this at the local Walmart before reading all the negative reviews, and obviously got a little scared of what would happen when I brewed my first batch. I had used previous incarnations of this tea maker before, always with great success. Well, as I type this, I am listening to the churning and bubbling of my 12th batch of 3 quarts of iced tea and have had 0 mishaps, leaking, or spillage. Yes, of course if I rip the pitcher away from the tea maker before removing the tray the tea bags go into, then there is some leakage, but having used these things for years, I always remove the tea tray after it finishes dripping into the pitcher and then remove the pitcher to put it in the fridge. Seriously not sure what the deal is with the ones that are leaking. Maybe it was a fault with a certain number of the tea makers, but the series I got seems to work fine. I always go into the kitchen half expecting to find a puddly of tea on the counter, but so far, so good. If this thing lasts a year, it's well worth the 15 bucks I spent. I'm a Virginia native living in Mexico where they sell no ice tea brew or tea makers, so I brought a jumbo size box of family size tea bags and the tea maker down in my checked luggage. Great product, and it's great to have iced tea again.
Stay away from this product - leaks like a sieve March 3, 2010 K. Cox (Friendswood, TX United States) This is an awful design. If you don't line the pitcher up just right under the canister you have tea all over your counter and floor. No matter how careful in alignment, if the blasted spout is off just millimeters it leaks all over. Had the old style Mr. Coffee iced tea maker for years. Handed it down to my daughter when I bought a new refridgerator and desired a lower profile tea canister. What a mistake. My daughter won't give the old reliable style iced maker back so I'm in the hunt for one.
Poor Design? February 21, 2010 Jeffrey Frankhouser I have owned every model of the Mr. Iced Tea Maker and never had issues with any of them except this newest model. I haven't figured out what causes the excessive leakage because it doesn't always leak, but when it does, oh boy watch out because half of the contents will end up on your counter. I really love my Iced Tea maker and use it 3-4 times per week. I would never buy another one of these and frankly, am considering dumping this one. Sorry Mr. Iced Tea Maker, this one missed the mark. PS Why did the designers need to change a perfectly good tea maker anyway.
Leaks, leaks, leaks February 18, 2010 C. Casia (Chicago) We love iced tea and decided to save $$ and get a brewer. It worked well for a few times then it began to leak even though the pitcher is completely lined up. I can't figure out why as there are no gaps. My savings ended on the counter top and floor.
It is going in the garbage!
Makes great iced tea on my countertop February 15, 2010 DQ82 (Missouri) I was able to use the iced tea maker for about 2 months, about 4 times a week and now it drips about 2 cups of tea on the countertop. I cleaned the brew basket throughly, but still drips. It doesn't start to drip until the last 2 cups are left to brew. I've also tried strong and weak brew settings, still doesn't matter. It makes great iced tea, but I'm tired of cleaning up the mess.
