3 out of 5 stars Just Not For Me   March 9, 2010

When my beloved Braun electric kettle developed a small leak, I ordered this Krups model. Unfortunately, I had to return it. This kettle was far too heavy, even half filled with water, for my old hands and wrists. It is certainly built to last, and may be suitable for young strong users. However, a second drawback is that it did not heat water as fast as my Braun, while drawing slightly more power. Heating this cold heavy kettle seems to me to waste energy. Lest you think I am a shill for Braun, let me emphasize that Braun no longer makes my model, nor any comparable kettle. There are a few used, and one new one available but at a huge price - apparently, others value it as highly as I. Last note: the Krups base, not being round makes kettle placement on base less convenient. High quality but not for me.

3 out of 5 stars For the price   February 23, 2010

For this price you would expect a great design. So some complaints. The water level faces away from the handle making it difficult to see and is plastic. The lid lifts extra high with a piece of plastic that unnecessarily fits down the pouring spout making it slightly more difficult to refill under the tap. The pouring spout is obstructed with the filter holder with miserly holes for flow (modify by removing the piece of plastic between the two skinny slots that are supposed to be sufficient to get a pour going. It boils for too long before shutting off which is bad for tea preparation. No temperature setting or gauge.

The kettle is a rounded off square shape which is not clear in the picture. The handle is rubberized and grayish in color not black.

... But it does match the die cast coffee machine and toaster:).

Have used the kettle now for a while and am so glad I came across this Krups kettle. For one, I love the greater capacity volume water it holds. It's been very reliable, quick and I love the clean, die-cast, very solid design. I would highly recommend this kettle, because I searched for a very long time to find the right one. The search was worth it. Often you do get what you pay for; so in this case.
Can't say anything but good about this KRUPS water kettle.

5 out of 5 stars Good so far   January 6, 2010

This is a quality device. I like it and am almost glad that my old proctor-silex died astonishingly quickly.

The Krupps kettle heats faster, is easier to clean, and is more solidly constructed. Whoever designed this thing was pretty experienced in using electric kettles because, so far, it is just about perfect. It's no one thing, but lots of little details. Like the heating element being flush mounted so you can actually reach in there with a sponge.

Spoil yourself. Get this one and don't suffer the lesser equipment.

We bought this kettle for its looks and the promise of a long working life. It is attractive and tall with a large capacity. It has the feel of a high quality product and although only time will tell if it lasts, it feels solid and durable. Is it worth $120? Don't know, but the wife likes it.....
